My Review of "Beat Street"
Beat Street is an 80's movie about hip hop in the Bronx at that time. Although it isn't marketed as such, this movie really is a musical. I think a lot of the charm of this movie comes from the musical and dance elements. The story is pretty rudimentary and the acting isn't the best. You're really here for the historical context and the players that were involved with this project.

My Review of "Liar Liar"
Liar Liar is a comedy that came out in 1997. It's a movie that is geared toward a wide audience but in a way it isn't. There's definitely a family film aspect to this movie but there are a few adult references sprinkled throughout the movie. That's why I'm not totally sure if there's a group that this movie is really geared towards.

My Review of "Blast from the Past"
Blast from the Past is a romantic comedy from 1999. It's not very well known despite the star power in its cast. At the time these stars were very popular and you can tell that the studio was trying to cash in on their popularity. This was party the downfall of this movie because at the core of this movie we have a pretty interesting concept. There are a lot of fun ideas that they added to this mix but they never reached it's potential.

My Review of "Monkey Man"
Monkey Man is a crazy action movie that was released recently in 2024. Although it is a revenge movie, this is nothing like the John Wick movie you think it might be. Through the trailers for this movie that's what I thought I would be getting. If that's what you're looking for you will be satisfied closer to the end of the movie but this is very different.

My Review of "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire"
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is the latest installment of the Warner Brother's Monsterverse franchise in 2024. It is big, loud and dumb but that's why someone would go see this type of movie. If you're a fan of the previous movies then you're going to love this one because it dials everything up a few notches. There are plenty of giant monster fights to keep you entertained.

My Review of "Blackberry"
Blackberry is a comedy that's based off the true events of the real life Blackberry phone company RIM. This movie came out in 2023 but you could have swore they made this movie during the early 2000s. It's a crazy blast from the past and if you're Canadian this movie has an extra blast of nostalgia to hit you.

My Review of "True Lies (1994)"
True Lies was somewhat popular when it first arrived in theatres in 1994. Back then, it took a lot of coaxing from my family and friends to get me to watch it. I'm glad that they did because this become a guilty pleasure that come back to over and over again.

My Review of "Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning part one"
Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning part one is quite a mouth full when you read that out loud. It's one of the big releases of 2023 but it didn't fare well in the theatres. For this reason, it took me a while to get to this movie. I didn't have too much interest in it as I've never been a huge Mission Impossible franchise fan. With that said, I still appreciate all of the movies that have come out before it. I guess I'm part of the problem. I thought this was going to be more of the same. In a way it is and in a way it isn't.

My Review of "Aliens"
Aliens has always been my favorite movie from the franchise. It had the best blend of story, science fiction, and action, blended into one complete package. I've seen it many times over the years but it recently came out in 4k and thought I'd see if it passes the test of time. It came out back in 1986 and now almost 40 years later surely there are some flaws to this movie right?

My Review of "The Holdovers"
The Holdovers is a drama with a lot of comedy elements to it. The movie came out in 2023 but was based in 1970. As such, a lot of the film aesthetics are reminiscent of those times. They use that eras method of making films with this movie and it does take a little getting used to. When you do get used to it you have yourself a fantastic ride that you will get totally absorbed into.

My Review of "Ghostbuster: Frozen Empire"
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is one of my most anticipated movies for 2024. It just came out and I'm so disappointed. I couldn't be more let down at what I thought could have been such an amazing movie! I don't even ask for much but they just added so much to this sequel that it kind of became overloaded.

My Review of "Madame Web"
Madame Web is one of the superhero movies to come out in 2024. It came out with very little fanfare and not a lot of good word of mouth. That's why it took me quite a long time to muscle up the drive to check this one out. I admit, there is a sense of intrigue when people say a movie is really bad. Publicity like that makes me wonder if it really is as bad as they say. To that, I say it's not a terrible movie. There's a ton of potential there that was never untapped.
