Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar... anyone still care any for this storyline anymore?

This long, drawn out storyline is really giving a lot of WWE fans a sour taste in their mouths.

Having both headlined Wrestlemania together since 2015, fans are losing interest in the idea that Reigns will eventually become champion. After it not happening at Wrestlemania 34, in a rushed, last minute change of the storyline, with Lesnar re-signing with the WWE for an unreported amount of time, the “grandest stage of them all” told us that this feud was not quite over yet to most fans surprise. It was wildly spread that the plan, which had been the plan for the better part of a year, was that Reigns would win that match with Lesnar, making him The WWE Universal Champion. However, the beast Brock Lesnar left WM34 still the champ.

WWE was then in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where the rematch ended on a very controversial call by the referee and also even recognized as the wrong call by the referee and the WWE. So in truth, Reigns should be champ. No rematch was given or booked. Now we haven’t seen much of Lesnar and won’t all the way until Summerslam in August. It is rumoured that Reigns will face Lesnar yet again for the title but nothing is booked yet. Meanwhile, Reigns is in an uninteresting “filler-feud” with Jinder Mahal to fill up time until August. The most prestigious title is rarely around, and never defended more than just a few times a year. It makes that event a very special and rare event. But many fans are sick of not seeing the champ perform like a “fighting” champion. People like Seth Rollins, The Miz, and Jeff Hardy have all been in the Intercontinental and United States championship scenes and defending/performing almost every show, televised or not. Fans are seeing this and losing respect for the beast.

The best thing for the WWE is to get this over and done with. Have Reigns win the belt, sure. After all, this drawn out story would be so pointless and anticlimactic if he didn’t. However, the biggest move and decision they (WWE) need to make is who will eventually beat Reigns for it, and once he is stripped of the title by whoever they decide, Reigns turns heel. That WWE superstar can expect to be a fan favourite and be pushed heavily. My thoughts are maybe Braun Strowman, however, a twist in the storyline and someone else would be great too.

Superstars can all attest, and it has been proven time and time again, that if they want to be cheered and loved, get booked for a moderately lengthy to long feud with the big dog Roman Reigns. Look what it did to Braun Strowman.

All in all, fans are looking forward to all the possibilities with the long list of high caliber stars that can be included in the Universal Title storylines, once the title isn’t being kept on the shelf with Lesnar.

With this inevitable feeling of Reigns becoming Universal Champion, it is really leaving WWE programming in an uninteresting limbo when it comes to the top championship scene.

Roman Reigns vs. Jinder Mahal coming up at Money in the Bank proves to be yet another match to tide over the WWE fans until the next chapter of, in my opinion, the most overly hyped and overly drawn out story of the big dog and the beast.

Many WWE fans, myself included, are incredibly eager to move on to not only Reigns attaining the title from Lesnar, but putting over whoever the WWE have in store to defeat then WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. The big dog can finally dominate the roster as a heel maybe!!? But hey! It’s the WWE, anything can happen.....
