Every now and again a handful of fighters emerge and stake their claim as the very best in the sport, and the boxing world begins to discuss who the very best P4P's are. These men are usually chosen based on skills, accomplishments, and the whose who on their "rap sheet" so to speak.

Everybody has their opinion on who they think is the very best in the sport right now, this is just mine not in any specific order, but maybe the closet one in the right direction. But let's just see and you tell me if I "hit the nail on the coffin" with this list.

Errol "The Truth" Spence Jr. (Welterweight 23-0, 20 KO's)

Errol has the total package when it comes to being a "complete" fighter, he's great on the outside and inside, controls the fight from beginning to end, great body puncher, fights behind the jab very well, never gets to rattled when he's pressured, and he most certainly can CRACK!

A former 2012 Olympian, Errol has walked through the likes of notable opponents Chris Algeria, Leonard Bundu, and Lamont Peterson. But his biggest test was in 2017 against former IBF champ Kell Brook, in a fight in which he ended up winning that belt.

The fight took place in Kell's backyard in the UK at Bramall Lane, Sheffield Stadium in front of 27,000 fans, this was one of the most talked about and biggest fight's of 2017. Errol showed true heart, grit, and composure in this fight. And due to Spence punishing Brook with heavy shots and breaking his orbital bone, the fight was waived off in the 11th round by the ref. Errol became the new welterweight champ and put his name in the P4P list undoubtedly.

Canelo "Saul" Alvarez (Middleweight 49-1-2, 34 KO's)

Canelo is a true Mexican warrior and has been in the ring with some for sure hall of fame fighters at a young age. Facing the likes of Erislandy Lara, Miguel Cotto, and Floyd Mayweather just to name a few. All faced in his early 20s and having only taking a loss at the hands of Floyd, one of the greats.

He is true to his heritage as a Mexican boxer, leaves it all in the ring and gives a tremendous performance every time out. Great combination puncher with bad intentions on every shot, defense is fairly underrated but displays good head movement none the less.

He has been a multi-world champion in two separate weight classes (middleweight, light middleweight). At just 27 years of age, this man has already been where most people his age haven't in this sport, say what you want about Canelo, but he is for sure P4P.

Terence "Bud" Crawford (Welterweight 32-0, 23 KO's)

Terence Crawford is probably the "cream of the crop" when it comes to world class fighters. He optimizes the "perfect" fighter, he's lengthy, has great ring generalship, great ring I.Q., good defense, and looks to just destroy his opponents every time out.

He's just been bulldozing through his competition from 135 lbs - 140 lbs making every performance look as "sweet as pie." And now he is looking to make his way at 147 lbs. He is the only undisputed champ at 140 lbs since Bernard Hopkins did it at middleweight, but ended up losing that title at the hands of Jermain Taylor in 2005.

Although the 147 lb. division is stacked with talent, I still think Terence continues his reign and keeps his name in that P4P talk and on the list. He's just that special type of fighter that comes around every now and again.

Vasiliy "Hi-Tech" Lomachenko (Lightweight 11-1, 8 KO's)

Now you may look at his record and say, "Oh well who has he fought?" Scratch that. This man's skill set is second to none and he also accomplished in 12 fights what very few accomplish in 20 or even 30 fights. That being have captured two world titles in two different weight classes.

Only suffering a loss in a controversial fight to a much bigger and a veteran at using "special" tactics, Orlando Salido. Loma is just in a different class of his own when it comes to the way he fights, dancing around his opponent as if it was a tango between the two.

He is also on his way to capturing his third world in his third different weight class. Racking up another accomplishment as he continues to show and prove why he should and is mentioned in P4P talk.

Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (Middleweight 37-0-1, 33 KO's)

So I'm going to be honest when the list came down to it, Golovkin was not in my thoughts. But like it or not you just have to respect how dominant and skillful he actually is, the guy might be the hardest hitting fighter with freakish power I've seen since the great Mike Tyson.

He has reigned at the top of the middleweight division for quite some time, now being a unified champion, Golovkin is a straightforward fighter but he doesn't do it recklessly. He's strategic in the way he breaks down his opponents and once he closes in, it's typically lights out.

He had a controversial and close fight in his last performance out against Canelo Alvarez, in a fight of the century last year. And which they are scheduled for a rematch this year, we shall see how long that reign will last. But for now respect is due and Golovkin is certainly right to be in the top five of the very best in the sport.
