The Start of a New Journey

A lifelong basketball fan embarks on a new opportunity.

This article is different from any that I have written on this site. My other articles usually cover things that are "breaking news" in the NBA. I also do opinion articles from time to time, but they are not yet my forte. However, I hope to do more of those in the future.

This article is different from my previous articles because of what I'll discuss in this article. The topic of this article revolves around something I recently started. Earlier this month, I started a basketball themed YouTube channel.

My channel is called HoopLifeTv. This channel is something that I've planned for a while (almost two years to be exact), but I kept putting it off. I kept telling myself that I knew nothing about YouTube, I don't have the right equipment, and every other excuse in the book. Then, one day, I decided to just go for it. Perhaps one of Michael Jordan's famous quotes motivated me to do so.

Michael Jordan is considered one of the greatest (if not the greatest) basketball players to play the game. I won't start that debate here, but maybe I will on my channel down the line! But, Michael Jordan has a quote that I try to keep in mind. In a way, it's like a mantra. Michael Jordan once said "I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying."

This quote, along with other factors, could be the reason that I decided to do this channel.

In order to understand the origins of this channel, I have to go back to about two years. Around two years ago, I decided to combine two of my passions. I am a huge basketball fan and I enjoy writing. So, writing about basketball seemed obvious. When I combined my passions, I started my own blog. That blog is slightly embarrassing now, but it helped me get started, which is the most important thing. Then, I went on to write for other websites including this one.

When I started my blog, I intended on doing the YouTube channel to go along with it. But, as I said, I kept talking myself out of it. Now, I feel like better late than never.

The channel has about 11 videos at the moment. Most of my videos are based off of brief articles I wrote or articles from names such as Adrian Wojnarowski. I may paraphrase their articles and provide a link to their article in the description. Or, I'll write something and build the video around my article. These videos are just to get a feel for uploading and getting accustomed to YouTube. Then, I'll be doing more speaking videos (my Blue Yeti microphone just came yesterday!) and a variety of other videos. I can't say what they are are just yet, but if you are a basketball fan, I'm sure you will enjoy them.

Admittedly, I am very excited to start this channel. I have big dreams and high hopes for this channel. I am glad to be in the position that I am in. By no means am I an expert on YouTube. There will be a lot of trial and error in the beginning. You'll see my mistakes but you'll also see my growth (I'll probably say the same thing in my upcoming introduction video). So, I ask that you are patient with me.

The following is a link to the channel: HoopLife TV

There isn't much there (yet), but feel free to check it out. I also have a PayPal that will be included in (most) of the descriptions if anyone feels like supporting/donating to the channel. But by no means feel obligated to do so. Donations (even on here) are not a big thing to me. I am just thankful to have the confidence to go for my goals. I cannot guarantee that this channel will be a success, but one thing that I know is that I'll give my best effort. Thank you for reading this and thank you for checking out the channel (if you did). It is greatly appreciated.
