NBA Debates 2

Are these NBA opinions true or false?

The last article I wrote about NBA opinions was really fun to write and sparked a lot of debate. So let's do a round 2!

Nikola Jokic is the best center in the league. True of false?

Nikola Jokic has been playing incredible to begin the season, but I don't think I could go as far as saying the best just yet. Its been less than 10 games in the season, so you can't really say for sure. But this I know, if Jokic continues playing like this, he deserves to be an All-star.

Even with his outstanding play however, I can't say he's better than Joel Embiid, DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gobert, Andre Drummond, or Al Horford yet. While he DOES have a STRONG argument against these guys, I wouldn't say for sure he's better than them just yet.

False.

Trae Young will win Rookie of the Year. True or false?

I think this one is very highly possible. Trae Young is a great shooter, has great IQ and ball movement. He doesn't have the best shot selection however, and low field goal percentage is gonna look bad on his resume. The major factor I see though, is the fact that he is the main option for the Hawks. They've given him the reins for the team and is gonna be the head of their offense. The Hawks being a bad team is just going to make Trae look even better. He's gonna get more opportunities because of it and I can really see him winning the award. However, he does have some tough competition, so watch out.

True.

Kemba Walker is extremely underrated because of the team he is on. True or false?

To be honest, I think Kemba is OVERRATED. People say that Kemba doesn't get the credit he deserves. He's been playing fantastic ball and easily the best player on the Hornets, HOWEVER, to me, that just says that he wouldn't be as good as he is if he were on a better team. Place him on one of the playoff contending teams and how would he do? He'd do great! But he's not going to average almost 30 PPG like he is now. The Hornets are not a great team, and because of that, it makes Kemba look better. Same principle as Trae Young above, except in this situation it hurts Kemba. The bad team is gonna make his individual stats look better.

False.

Klay Thompson is the 2nd best shooter ever. True or false?

This is a tough one, but in the end, I'm gonna have to say yes. Remember that the opinion is SHOOTER, not PLAYER. If you factor in some of the other great shooters in history like Ray Allen or Reggie Miller, I'd say they are better players than Klay. But shooter? So far, I don't think so.

Klay has ridiculously incredible off-ball movement and his teammates can set him up. Plus he's got one of the purest jump shots I've ever seen. The argument is REALLY tough honestly, but with Klay's 14 three's in a game, I give him the slight edge.

Where would you rank Manu Ginobili all-time?

Wow. This is a tough one. I don't wanna say too much about Manu because I already wrote an entire article about him. So if you wanna know more about the great Manu, you can catch up there. However, this is tough. The article that gave me the idea to do this mentioned top 10? or top 20? I am sorry, but top 10? No way. Top 20? Mmmm nah. Manu is great. Hall of fame great. But he isn't top 20 all-time. Thinking back on some of the greats, I don't think I could place Manu ahead of them. With that said, I wanna acknowledge how great of a player Manu still was. Hall of fame FOR SURE.

Steph Curry is the best PG in the league currently. True or false?

Oh true. So true. So many people say Steph is overrated which I do not understand. The man is a 2x MVP and the ONLY UNANIMOUS MVP IN HISTORY. That means every single person picked him to be MVP and there was ZERO DOUBT OR DEBATE about it. If that's not impressive, than I don't know what is. Especially with his play at the beginning of this season, he is for sure the best PG in the league. He currently leads the league in scoring with almost 33 PPG. Kyrie Irving, Chris Paul, Damian Lillard, Russell Westbrook—all these players have an argument but at the end of the day, Steph is more valuable to his team. And his team is the championship team.
