Archery Love

I've found the perfect bow.

Archery is something that is hard to explain. It’s more than just picking up a bow and taking a few shots. It’s that feeling of holding the bow while out in the open.

I often get asked, ‘which bow should I buy?’ my answer is always the same, ‘what bow do you like the look of?’

That is really what is all comes down too. Bows are not practical for hunting—not in a world where we have so many fire arms. But it’s that feeling that we get. If you are a traditional shooter then you will always find reasons as to why this stick is better than anything else. If you like the look of compound bows, you will list off all the benefits of those bows and you will always pick your favorite in that area.

I am a man who is happiest with a bow in my hand and I love the look of more traditional bows.

I’ve been shooting for close to a decade at this point and I have spent a lot of money trying to find ‘The Bow For Me.’

I’ve experimented with many different materials and different combos. I’ve shot and bought bows from the bigger companies and the smaller ones. The smaller start ups and the ones who have been going for a while and are true gems when you find them.

This year, I found a company called Mandarin Duck.

There are a lot of thoughts that come to mind when I think of this company. The best way to explain it is ‘the little black dress.’ There are bows that are big and flashy. There are bows that focus on one thing or another—but there is only one that does everything we need it to do with a sexy little number.

These bows aren’t bright and demanding attention. But they are sleek and sexy. They don’t grab your eyes but once you see them, they let you see how beautiful they are. Once these bows have you—they have you and you will hold every bow going forward to these bows.

And you should.

It’s always a battle of well crafted vs price. And in a lot of cases—much like with everything outside the world of archery—you end up paying for the name of the brand and not what you actually want. But that is no longer the case thanks to these bows.

These don’t just look breathtaking, but they will put that arrow exactly where you want it—providing you have a bit of skill of course.

For me, the most enjoyment comes from finding that balance of an easy shooting bow, but one that I control.

There are a number of bows that are easy to shoot and they give you great results with little effort. At the same time there are bows that will punish you if your form is just a little off.

The Mandarin bows have that balance that I’ve been looking for. It takes skills and concentration, but they don’t punish the archer for a little drop in elbow.

These bows have elegance, beauty, grace. They are a smooth and sweet shot.

I can pick up one of these bows and head out in the rain and I will still have a smile on my face. I could get down in the mud and break arrows and I will still be happy because of the bow I am shooting.

These bows are not bank breakers. They are cheap and so well made. These bows are life long bows. You can easily buy one of these and be happy for the rest of your shooting life.

So now when people ask, ‘what bow should I buy?’ I say in all honesty, ‘Buy a Mandarin Duck bow.’
