Now The Real Fun Begins (Week 13)
It's here! The NFL's home stretch of the regular season is finally here! The season will enter the month of December, which is the pivotal month of the season, as that's when the playoff spots can be punched in, while teams can be thinned out. 2022 marks the third year of the NFL's current playoff format, which allows seven playoff teams per conference, totalling 14 in all. It is also the second year of the NFL's current 17-game, 18-week season, and with 12 weeks in the books, that leaves the final one-third left to play out. For those who are still trying to get used to this current playoff format, here's how it goes.

1. “They all are hatin’, but I like rotating” For me still one of the most amusing lines from José Mourinho’s technical overcoat song comes in very handy. A lot of managers decided to rest some of the players or simply rotate them.
Matic CretnikPublished about a year ago in UnbalancedWill LeBron Make History?
Year 20 will be history making Wow, LeBron James what a season he had as fans watched this 2021-2022 NBA season. The expected stars played well, but it was the unexpected stars that gave the fans a show. The NBA showed they were back in full force after the Covid-19 shutdown and vaccine protocols. From Durant back from ACL injury, to the Bucks coming ready to defend the trophy, to Harden to the Sixers and now Durant and Kyrie back on the court together. The excitement was so much that the star power we expected to be the highlight was overshadowed once again by the King. LeBron was on a mission, but the memo wasn't given to the rest of the Lakers team. While LeBron James was having one of the best season of his career it was spoiled by the Lakers not making the playoffs and trade rumors. His stats for season 30.3 PPG, 8.2 RPG, and 6.2 APG and would've actually won the scoring title of the season if he would've played the last few games of the season. Honestly, I think and I heard other media say, they believe he done that far as sitting so it wouldn't seem he was stat chasing. Especially when his team didn't make the Playoffs.

Winners OnlyPublished about a year ago in UnbalancedNFL Week 12 Recap: It's Not Easy Being Green (and Gold)
Week 12's Sunday Night Football showcase between the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles was one of the most entertaining games I had ever seen. Though the Packers got off to a bad start by falling down 13-0 quicker than a hiccup, the team bounced back and actually took the lead, on the road, against a team who lost only one game. Just before halftime, the game was tied at 20, but a late Eagles touchdown made it 27-20 after two quarters. Unfortunately, the Packers didn't get back in to the game, but they made it close at the tail end. The Eagles went on to win, 40-33, improving them to 10-1, while the Packers fell to 4-8 and are on life support.

I said this once before; I do love "trainwreck divisions," because they get all the interest and attention. This on-and-off trend started in 2010, when the NFC West was so terrible that the Seattle Seahawks ended up finishing first with a 7-9 record. Since then, we have seen our share of mediocre/subpar division champions over the years. Even the NFC North fell victim to this in 2013. I remember that year vividly; Aaron Rodgers missed several weeks due to injury, yet while the Green Bay Packers did regress, so did the rest of the division. Rodgers returned on the final week to defeat the Chicago Bears, resulting in the Packers winning the division at 8-7-1.

As days quickly pass, we can enjoy a festival of football games that occur every day. Cheering for our favourites makes us forget about the troubles we face in real life for at least a short period of time. Despite not being able to attend a world cup (once again) there are quite a lot of interesting details I was able to notice.
Matic CretnikPublished about a year ago in UnbalancedCourse Correction: The Promising Outlook for the Games of Golf Going Forward
Introduction Every once in a while, you run across a statistic that simply makes you go “WOW!” As a strategic management consultant and professor, I could think of many more “fancy” ways to label the recent statistics released by the National Golf Foundation (NGF) on the rapid growth - and changing nature of - of golf participation rates in the United States, but “wow!” captures this better than any fancy, academic term to be found anywhere in the voluminous research out there on consumer behavior, business strategy, marketing research, sports management, etc. In short, the game of golf is rapidly changing. And this will have profound implications for everyone - players, companies, media and more - involved in the sport. Additionally, the NGF’s findings create profound opportunities for entrepreneurially-minded folks not just in the United States, but worldwide, to take advantage of the profound - and likely permanent - shift in the way golf is played, spent on, watched, experienced, etc., both right now and into the future.

Nov. 24, 2022 Purdue 85, Harvard 63 Lasha Petree gave Harvard a Thanksgiving Day lesson as she feasted on the Ivy Leaguers scoring 23 points in 25 minutes of action. The six-foot guard who transferred from Rutgers shot 9-14 overall, including 3-5 from three. Petree is shooting 55.1 percent from the field after her first five games at Purdue which are all wins. She has shot at least 60 percent in three of her last four contests. Her 23 points matched a season high that she posted against Murray State in a 90-61 win on Nov. 13.

On November 24, 2022, Börje Salming, one of the most legendary figures in the history of the National Hockey League, passed away at the age of 71. As a diehard hockey fan, I am ashamed to say that my knowledge of this great man is quite small, but I would learn a lot about this amazing player in the last couple of years--especially in the last few weeks. Born Anders Börje Salming in Salmi, Sweden on April 17, 1951, Salming began his hockey career in his native country in 1967, playing three years for Karuna AIF before joining Brynäs IF in 1970, going on to win two championships in 1971 and 1972.
