For the Westchester Female Flag Football League, There’s a New Champion in Town
Flag Football Basketball On Thursday, March 21, the Westchester Female Flag Football League ended their season at East Coast Fitness in Yorktown, and the odds on favorite had to be the three time defending champions, Looking to Score. So hoping for one on the index finger, the Somers team did have to deal with one departing member. “My old team” said quarterback Cat Rhatigan of Coming in Hot, and as it turned out, only one player went home with a fourth consecutive ring.

Game #80 is in the past. On to Game #81. With a first round matchup with the Winnipeg Jets now official, the Colorado Avalanche now had to go for home ice in that series. Entering this game, the Avs needed to win out and the Jets needed to lose one point in the standings. For Game #81, it was our last road game of the regular season, and it was a trip to Sin City against the defending Cup Champions, the Vegas Golden Knights. And regarding goaltending, Alexandar Georgiev was in the net against Adin Hill. So far, it was already much better than Game #80. The Avs were actually shooting the puck, which seemed to be a novel concept in recent games.

Oh boy. So let's get this over with. This won't be the typical Colorado Avalanche recap, because I'll start off by telling the result right off the bat. We lost 7-0 at home to the Winnipeg Jets in a game we needed. Entering this game, both teams had an outside shot at the Central Division, but in case this game ended up being a preview of the opening round, we needed to win this to get a crack at home-ice in that series.

April 15, 2024 will mark the 77th anniversary of Jackie Robinson's debut in Major League Baseball. Robinson, who was 28 years old at the time, broke the color barrier. The color barrier, or color line as it was called, barred African American players from playing in the Majors and Minors. This ban was in place for 60 years until 1947. So who was this second baseman and why his legacy still has an impact on Major League Baseball today?

Well...they're in. The Vegas Golden Knights are in the playoffs, but it wasn't an easy road. Despite an 11-0-1 start to the season, the Knights fell off the rest of the way, and it looked like that the defending champs wouldn't be back in the playoffs. However, Vegas did manage to get back in the thick of things and move back above the playoff line, and they would enter this day with a chance to stay up there for good. They got some help from the Carolina Hurricanes, who won 5-2 over the St. Louis Blues, meaning that Vegas could get in with a win of any kind. Boy, did they get it: a 7-2 win over the decaying Minnesota Wild.

On Thursday March 22, John Jay opened the season and found themselves in an intense back and forth with visiting Pelham. A cold, windy day, the weather didn’t stand a chance against a team looking to establish their identity, according to coach Jess McDonough. “They want to be known for their relentlessness,” she said, and Pelham was the first to find out.

Entering this very day, only one team was playing for the chance to join the greatest Sweet 16 in sports: the Stanley Cup Playoffs. That team was the Los Angeles Kings, who were having a devil of a time trying to get in the playoffs. They had a chance to clinch on Sunday. No go. They had an easy chance to get in on Tuesday. All they had to do was defeat the Anaheim Ducks. Again, no go. Take three came on this evening, as the Kings were at home against the Calgary Flames. The third time was the charm. A 1-0 lead after 20 became a 3-0 lead after 40, and that pretty much did it. The Kings went on to win, 4-1, and it was party time in the City of Angels.

Michael ReynosoPublished 13 days ago in UnbalancedAvalanche Game 79 Recap: Mack for Hart
I've said it 1000 times this season, and here's #1001: Put Mack's name on that trophy! The Colorado Avalanche entered Game #79 needing a lot to happen to even have a chance to win the Central Division. That loss to the Dallas Stars couldn't have come at a worse time. Now the Avs need a miracle. That starts with this game--the last of the season against the Minnesota Wild. The Avs had the alternates on to for the second straight night, and Alexandar Georgiev was in net against Filip Gustavsson.
Clyde E. DawkinsPublished 14 days ago in UnbalancedRed Hot Predators Join the Playoff Party
The Stanley Cup Playoffs are upon us, and the pieces of the playoff puzzle are filling up. Entering this insane day of NHL action, five playoff spots remained overall, with three of the open spots being in the Western Conference. Two of the spots could have been filled on this night, as the Nashville Predators and the Los Angeles Kings could have locked in spots. All the Preds needed was one point, that's all. Just get to overtime. It didn't look like it would happen, as the Preds were down 3-1 against the Winnipeg Jets. Nashville did manage to tie it up, and the third period managed to end with the score tied at three. The Preds did lose in OT, but the one point they got ended up placing them in the playoffs.
