A Picture Can Tell 1000 Words, Part 2

Of course there was going to be a sequel, this time with 25,000+ 'words' to ponder!

A few more shots from the ones taken during the public training camp skates at the Winnipeg Jets' annual Fan Fest held at the Bell MTS Iceplex just off the perimeter in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After getting my shoes a bit less muddy from the walk from the closest bus stop (hint to anyone running in the Winnipeg civic election, ADD A BUS ROUTE OUT THERE as the half hour walk, which has a good chunk of it along the Trans-Canada highway, is more than slightly scary!!! Ok, rant done... for now, LOL), several hundred shots were taken during the camp so these moments that many hockey fans could not watch could be shared with them. Above is a shot of Jets' assistant captain Mark Scheifele early in the morning action as he watches for a pass to come his way.

(And important note from the photographer: Where she was trying her best to identify everyone in these photos, there might be some blunders/mistakes/total goof-ups, so please send a message either through the Facebook Coach Mousie page or via PM on Instagram, handle CoachMousie to let her know of any such misfires. Thanks!)

Andrew Copp (in the navy blue jersey) sends a pass over to Dmitry Kulikov (red jersey) as they go through a passing drill, which was what most of the players were doing in the first part of the morning's part of the public camp.

Kyle Connor (left) and Mark Scheifele do the drill down the left-side of the ice, opposite of how the drill as previously shown was being run. To be honest, from a strictly professional and strategic point of view, watching the practices are equally as interesting for anyone who loves the game. This is especially so for those who cover the game either from a written or photographic perspective.

Logan Stanley (red jersey) watches forward Marko Dano (sapphire blue jersey) receive a pass during the drill. Certainly, being able to notice what players are doing behind one's self is a skill all defensemen really learn to develop over time. The speed at being able to develop this almost ESP-like trait helps a player make the jump from the CHL or the AHL to the NHL.

A group discussion after the first set of give-and-go drills, led by the coaching staff of the Winnipeg Jets during the Fan Fest at the Bell MTS Iceplex.

Giovanni Vallati cycles with the puck during the second set of team drills the players were put through during the public part of their training camp. Vallari is an unsigned draft pick who was selected by the Jets in the 5th round, 153rd overall, in this spring's draft.

Waiting their turn for the drill, which was a 5 on 3 cycling offensive/defensive one, are vert forwards Brendan Lemieux, Matthieu Perreault, and Andrew Copp (editorial note: guessing that from the facial profile, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!)

The funny thing about using continuous shooting (which was used in the previous story and throughout my time of shooting) is how much more of the story can be told through this method. Here, Dustin Byfuglien is watching and skating back as forwards Jack Roslovic (navy jersey) and Nic Petan (sapphire jersey) rush the zone....

... And Roslovic cuts to the right on the ice, to the left of the defenders he is facing, with Petan speeding to keep up with the play.

Jansen Harkins (sapphire jersey, closest to the boards) makes the split second choice about whether he should pass the puck to Nic Petan (19, sapphire jersey) or shoot it.

Mark Scheifele (white jersey) and Brandon Tanev (navy jersey) watch what the defenders are doing with the puck, waiting to pick their pockets.

As Scheifele continues to charge a bit, Tanev moves into a good position back just a tad to take the anticipated pass from his teammate to shoot from.

Andrew Copp (left, navy jersey) manages to accept the clever pass through the sticks of both Logan Stanley (red jersey) and Blake Wheeler (white jersey) from lineman Adam Lowry (right, navy jersey).

Matthieu Perreault (navy jersey) manages to catch up with the play behind teammates Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, and Blake Wheeler on the rush.

Tucker Poolman (red jersey) watches where the puck has gone as both Jack Roslovic (navy jersey) and Brendan Lemieux (sapphire jersey) keep a close eye on the positioning of the defensemen.

A close up of Marko Dano (sapphire jersey), Jack Roslovic (navy jersey), and Connor Hellebuyck (also a navy jersey) standing as they listen to their coach's feedback during their time on the first sheet of ice.

Connor Hellebuyck (navy jersey, no helmet) glances over at a teammate during the discussion being led by their coaches.

Ben Chiarot (red jersey, foreground) listens attentively to the instructions from the coaches regarding the new drill they are running.

Ben Chiarot (left, red jersey) and Giovanni Vallati (right, red jersey) watch the forwards in front of them attentively.

With just the slightest bit of movement backwards, both Chiarot and Vallati keep their stances as they watch the oncoming play coming towards them.

Chiarot stays in his position as Vallati moves towards the other point to help control the puck movement.

Captain Blake Wheeler watches and listens carefully to what is happening and expected in the training camp exercise.

Wheeler gets ready to blast off into the on-ice action during the Saturday morning drills.

Perreault comes towards the boards when he is not active in the drills on the ice.

Blake Wheeler yells out some instructions to his teammates during the drill.
