As I’m lying here in bed thinking about the New England Patriots and the New Philadelphia Eagles playing in Super Bowl LII, I can’t help but wonder what the Cleveland Browns are up to after pretty much taking a whole year off. Are they making moves to get better? Are they deciding on a new head coach? I know I would if I were them, but since I’m not, I’m just left here reading news articles and hoping the best for a team I enjoy next season.

Yes, the Cleveland Browns went 0-16 in the 2017-2018 season and yes they went 1-15 in the 2016-2017 season, but somehow I find a way to watch every game no matter the time or place. You might be asking yourself, “Why does he waste his time knowing that the Browns aren’t going to win?” And the simple answer is dedication.

Growing up I played baseball, basketball, and football. As a result, my favorite teams were the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers, and, of course, the Cleveland Browns. I would watch each professional team, hoping to learn something I could use in practice that night to impress the coaches and my fellow teammates. I think the only thing I learned from the Browns was that losing is the worst thing that can happen.

There comes a time in everyone’s life where that person just sits there and ask themselves, “Is this really what I want or do I want to do better and excel?” I think it’s time for the Browns to sit down and have that chat with themselves. Winning one game in the last two seasons is pretty embarrassing if you ask me. I don’t know what it’s like to play a sport at a professional level or even at a college level, but no matter what, everyone can agree that 1-31 is not a good record in any sport.

What can the Browns do to better themselves and the Cleveland community? It’s simple: WIN. A. FREAKING. GAME. I know it’s easier said than done. In the 2017-2018 season, the Browns had unlimited opportunities to win a game, but a rookie QB who threw twice as many interceptions as he did touchdown passes doesn’t win games. Many of those turnovers were in the red zone. You turn those interceptions into completions and those completions into touchdowns you have yourself close to a winning season. Simply stop making ignorant play calls and dumb mistakes with the bank and you win games.

What’s this mean for me as a Browns fan? For me, it means sticking with a team that I have faith in. Yes there was a “Perfect Season Parade.” Yes I know it was a protest for the front office of the Browns. No I did not participate, because I think that’s ignorant. Yes everyone wants the Browns to not be the laughing stock of the NFL. Yes I’ll continue waking up every Sunday morning watching the pregame, hoping an announcer will say something good about the Browns. Yes I’ll continue rooting for the team that got me into playing football even though I only played till high school, but that team made me enjoy playing football since I was a little kid. I’m not going to be one of those frontrunners simply because their team can’t win a game. I’m dedicated to the Cleveland Browns, they just need to get their head on straight and stop with the mistakes, on the field and in the front office.
